The dua for breaking the fast

((ذَهَبَ الظَّمَأُ وَابْتَلَّتِ العُرُوقُ، وَثَبَتَ الْأَجْرُ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ)).

Dhahabaz-zama’u wabtallatil-‘uruq, wa thabatal-ajru in sha’ Allah.

The thirst has gone, the veins are moist again, and the reward is certain, if Allah wills.

Said by the Prophet ﷺ when he broke his fast · Hisn al-Muslim 176 · Sunan Abi Dawud 2357

Iftar time today, to the minute

Iftar is at Maghrib, the moment the sun has set. The Prophet ﷺ said the people will keep to good as long as they hasten to break the fast (Sahih al-Bukhari 1957), so every page gives the minute, with a countdown.

You can give this Ramadan and see where each pound goes.

Ramadan day by day

Thirty pages, one for each day. Each day of Ramadan has its own page with sehri and iftar in the UK’s cities and around the world, the dua for breaking the fast, and the way to the day before and after. Day 30 stands only if the month runs to 30 days.

Sehri ends at Fajr

Eat and drink until dawn. Eating is allowed until the white thread of dawn is distinct from the black (Quran 2:187), so sehri ends when Fajr begins.

For the duas of the fast, see duas for fasting on Muslims Around the World.

Questions about iftar time today

What time is iftar today?

Iftar is at Maghrib, sunset, which is different in every place: choose your city or press “Find iftar time near me”.

What if it is not Ramadan?

The pages still give today’s Maghrib and Fajr, the iftar and sehri of a voluntary fast or of a day being made up, and count down to Ramadan.

Why do the Ramadan dates say “expected”?

They come from the Umm al-Qura calendar. Where Ramadan begins with the sighting of the new moon, it can start and end a day later.

Which cities have an iftar time today page?

Every city of 50,000 people or more, and the main cities of every country. For every town and village, iftartime.com has a page.
